  1. Where did you find your van?<\/strong> We found it on craigslist.org<\/a>. We had been watching for awhile and had seen a fair number of campervans (mostly old VWs). Those were a bit too much of a project<\/em> for us. This van was owned by an older gentleman who couldn’t travel anymore and was looking to sell. He was the only owner in the vehicle’s 25 year history.<\/li>\n
  2. What are the specifics of the van?<\/strong> It’s a 1982 Dodge B-250 van. It had a Sportsmobile<\/a> penthouse conversion added to it almost immediately after purchase. It’s got a 318 cubic in. V-8 motor and an extended body chassis. The camping conversion has a 29 gallon fresh-water tank, a sink with 25 gallon gray-water tank, and a toilet with 30 gallon black-water tank. It also has a 36 gallon gas tank.<\/li>\n
  3. What are some of the projects you’ve got planned?<\/strong> Well, one of the first things we’re going to have to do is engineer a bed. The Sportsmobile conversion has a “penthouse top” which is designed to have a bed in the upper, pop-up part of the van. That bed either never existed or was discarded somewhere along the way.\u00c2\u00a0 Jay wants a super, duper media center with GPS, Rockbox media player, and laptop integration.<\/li>\n
